If you have heard the buzz word "RTI" and are unclear what that is, here is a video hosted by Lehigh University College of Education, Center for Promoting Research to Practice as "an introduction to the model of RTI that [they] are using through [their] MP3 Project in three schools in the Central Dauphin School District located near Harrisburg, PA, as well as in many of the pilot RTI sites across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania."

While this does not illustrate the exact model of RTI we at A-C Central are implementing, it does shine a valuable and instructive light on the concepts of Response To Intervention.

*While any of the four "Click here..." links should work, the bottom-most link is recommended.

Among the tools A-C Central is using to address Responce To Intervention, AIMSWeb is a new addition to the districts curriculum.

Letter to Parents and Guardians of A-C Central Students PDF Print E-mail

Dear Parents and Guardians of A-C Central Student:

As you may have already heard, the Board of Education, after long discussion and serious consideration, decided to reconfigure attendance centers.    Moving to the Chandlerville facility will be the Kindergarten through 4th grade.  Grades 5-12 will be located in Ashland.  Grades 5-8 will be considered our Junior High with sports being played in Chandlerville.

The School Improvement Team of teachers has been meeting regularly since the beginning of the year—and based on the intensive study and research that was done this team determined that we could more effectively do a better job educating the students of the District with this type of configuration.  Based on test scores and data, we needed to improve teaching and learning.    The continuum of the curriculum in grades 5-12; implementation of the RTI program; enrichment and reinforcement classes; and utilization of our faculty and facilities to its maximum potential were all serious considerations.   We are excited about this proposition—we are projecting that we will now be able to have computer classes for our elementary students; enriched math and science classes for our junior high students that will count as high school credit; physical education every day and a better overall targeted education for our students.

We look forward to this exciting change for the betterment of the education of our students.  We know that there are going to be some challenges—but we are confident that we can all work together to accomplish this most ambitious task.  Thanks for your understanding and cooperation!

Sincerely,

Rebecca Canty

Superintendent
