The FFA held their annual Feed the Farmer and Labor Auction this past weekend. They served 150 people a donated dinner in the shop. The Alumni provided fried chicken for the event, and the students' families contributed dishes to pass. 39 students were auctioned off that night, which includes donating 4 hours of their time to the FFA for our fundraiser. While donations are still coming in, the total we have so far is just over $4000. These funds are used for SAE subscriptions, contest costs, National Convention costs, conference registrations, and the Illinois Foundation Drive, among other things. We are extremely grateful for the generosity of the community, and we will be keeping track of when students serve their donated time.
The FFA Alumni sponsor and organize the Feed the Farmer event which took place on Friday last week. Members and alumni volunteers are stationed at elevators in Ashland, Prentice, and Chandlerville. Pulled pork was purchased using a mini-grant through DOT Foods, which we are appreciative of. The Alumni served 300 sack lunches to members of the community, and through donations and purchases, we were able to raise over $1500 for senior FFA members scholarships at the end of the year.
