A-C Central School District was formed by the consolidation of the Ashland Community School District and the Chandlerville Community School District. Currently, the elementary school is in Chandlerville and the high school and middle school are in Ashland. The Unit Office is adjacent to the high school and elementary building in Ashland. The district has approximately 500 students. Ashland is 21 miles from Springfield. It is also 20 miles from Jacksonville. Chandlerville is a town of roughly 600 people and Ashland is a town of roughly 1200 people.
